My can’t miss podcast is…
When it comes to podcasts, I’m a comedy man. Regular podcasts I can’t miss include BBC Radio 4’s (yes not just for old men) Monday Night Comedy and Friday Night Comedy, which include a wonderful array of quiz shows, sketch shows, sitcoms and much more. There is always something different each week to get the giggles going. Another of my favourite Radio 4 comedy shows is Dead Ringers, which has classic impersonations by the likes of Jon Culshaw. Another show which has just recently finished that I have loved over the past couple of years was My Dad Wrote a Porno. You can guess what it’s about, but just give it a listen – it had me laughing while walking down the street! When I’m feeling a bit more serious, I listen to “Small Business BIG Network” where a local voice over artist interviews business owners from around Lincolnshire (and beyond) about their business and how they use networking – all very useful whilst working and helping run Weave Studios.
My foodie weakness is…
Food is definitely my biggest weakness in life, and I will pretty much eat anything bar tomatoes – the devil’s food in my opinion! (Although I will enjoy a good tomato sauce with pasta, how weird.) I love nothing more than trying food when I get to visit new places on holiday – however, there is nothing more enjoyable than a good Fry Up! It’s my absolute foodie weakness, so if anyone ever asks, “would you like a fry up for breakfast” the answer will be “YEAHHHHH!” I love the mix of flavours on the plate – plus is the best handover cure!
My one stop coffee shop is…
Surprisingly, I’m not a massive coffee drinker however I am improving… if you can! I get mega hyper on coffee so I have to be careful! However, my go to has to be Costa Coffee! It does a cracking coffee, latte and cappuccino – and they have the best array of Christmas drinks. I do enjoy a Black Forrest Gateau or Terry’s Chocolate Orange hot chocolate – I’m on a bit of a hot chocolate hype at the moment if you can’t tell! When visiting Denmark last year, we headed to the home of Lego in Billund. It’s only a small town but they have an amazing bakery/coffee shop, there I tasted the mother of all Hot Chocolates! It was dark and smooth with lashings of cream and a dash of a marshmallow- I shall try and master this art form at home now…. easier said than done!
On toast, I love to spread…
Sorry gang, boring old man coming though – it’s butter every time for me! I’m not a massive toast eater but it’s handy for a quick breakfast when on the go. Always butter it to death and enjoy the melted taste as you go.
The book I’m reading at the moment is…
I struggle to find the time to read (terrible I know). However, when I do get reading it normally takes me around 3 months to finish a book. Slow but steady! I’ve just finished reading Phil Collins’ autobiography, who is my drumming idol. It was an eye-opening read, through his ups and downs and full of how-to do’s and how not to dos! Currently I’m reading a short book from Spike Milligan called Adolf Hitler: My Part In His Downfall, which tells the tale of a young Spike during his days in the army before becoming the comedy legend we know today. Very funny and very witty!
The next film I need to watch is…
I love movie nights and heading to the cinema is a proper treat for me. The new Mission Impossible film is a must-watch for me, even if I have to wait for the summer!
The box set I rewatch again and again is…
I don’t have one! This may come as a surprise but I’m not a massive fan of rewatching TV! I’ll watch movies over and over again, but I’ve never ever rewatched a box set. I often find there’s too much new TV to try and watch – my streaming to watch list is always growing!
How do you take your usual caffeine fix?
Straight black coffee with two brown sugars – nice and simple and no faffing around with the milk! I’ve recently discovered that tea with two sugars is also rather lovely too – think I may have a bit of a dominant sweet tooth!
My dream getaway location is…
Don’t make me choose, I want to see the WHOLE WORLD! I love travelling and I’ve been very lucky to travel a lot of it already. However, the idea of Christmas Dinner on a beach in 30c weather has always appealed to me, so a trip to Sydney for Christmas and New Year sounds like a dream…. now just hoping that someone can make it happen for me, please!
My fool proof dinner party dish is…
I really love cooking and have perfected what is known as a “Sweet Potato Hash”. In short, it’s a load of sweet potato, sausages, fried onion… and that’s it! Cook the sausages and onion then pop it all in a pan, add some seasoning, leave for 25 mins, and serve with some spicy rice – it’s a winner every time!
My guilty pleasure is…
Definitely sitting down and playing some Xbox. I’m a massive gaming fan but I never seem to have time – so when I have a bit of time in front of the Xbox, it’s heaven! I’m all Xbox (sorry PlayStation peeps) and I love love love the Assassins Creed franchise. I’m a proper story man when it comes to gaming, and AC allows me to be taken out of this world and back to a completely different time with its immersive game play.
The mantra I live by is…
For me it’s the one saying I find myself saying over and over again to lots of people, from clients to friends and family… Keep It Simple.
We over complicate everything in life (me included), and I often have to come back to these 3 words to refocus. Give it a try- there is always a simpler way of doing something.
The song that always gets me on the dance floor is…
To be honest, it takes very little for me to get on the dance floor – whether I’ve had no drinks in or ten! “Saturday Night” or “Let’s Do the Time Warp” always gets me dancing, and once I’m up on the dance floor… it’s very hard to get me to sit down again.
And the most important question of all… PC or Mac?
Mac all the way, no questions asked. I do use a Windows PC sometimes, but I can’t wait to get back to my Mac. It’s fast, efficient, always ready when I am, and it’s a powerhouse! There is nothing I’ve found it can’t do, and my MacBook goes pretty much everywhere with me. Small, light, compact – who needs an office when you have a Mac? If I’m out and about with my iPhone or iPad at a client meeting, the Apple software and sharing capabilities mean that all my notes and anything else I do on my other devices are sat on my MacBook when I get home. It helps with working smarter not harder and keeping things simple.
