Mobile shopping now accounts for over 50% of online purchases

We came across a story on the Search Engine Journal stating that mobile shopping now represents more than 50% of online transactions in many countries around the world.

The findings are according to Criteo’s Global Commerce Review for Q2 of 2018.

The report analysed shopper’s activities, behaviours and preferences across all devices and browsers and used data from over 5,000 retailers in more than 80 countries.

According to the findings, apps are a significant driver of online sales with a 30 per cent increase year-on-year of in-app transactions.

The data has found that customers are more likely to convert when shopping using a retailers app rather than a mobile website.

Currently, Northern Europe and Japan are the leaders in mobile shopping. Whereas in North America the conversion rate of shopping apps is more than three times higher than the mobile web.
